So we recently discovered that James has been gnawing on the backside of the front rail in his crib now that he can sit up. He has really destroyed it. We lowered the crib mattress this morning so that he can not reach the top rails. So now he is just trying to gnaw on the vertical slates! We keep trying to tell him that this crib is supposed to last for all of his brothers and sisters, but he doesn't seem to care.

I checked Target.com and they sell crib-teether protectors for 9.99.
FYI - I would probably check to see if the crib had water- or oil-based laquer on it just in case.

Goodness! Maybe you could put a teething ring in his crib with him that way he has an alternative???
