Memorial Day!

We had a very busy weekend and enjoyed every moment of it! The big news of the weekend is that we are going to sell this.... our 2003 Ford Escape!

And we bought this....a 2001 Honda Odyssey

So yes, I'm entering the world of minivans. I'm sure this will be the first of several. We are so excited about the functionality and storage capabilities that it has. I'm sad to say goodbye to my car though. If anyone knows of someone that is in the car market let us know! We are hoping to sell it before we leave for Michigan in 3 weeks.

We were planning on taking a Memorial Day bike ride, but due to the rain we had to change plans. We had Jack over to spend the night Sunday and he and James had fun playing together this morning.

After lunch and James' morning nap we went to visit The Hilbrichs so James and Morgan could have some playtime. For dinner we headed to my parents for burgers! James loved the corn on the cob as you can see.

This is a video of James showing off his down the stairs skills. He is getting very very fast and daring.

first trip to the neighborhood pool

We are so lucky to have a neighborhood pool just up the street from our house and there is a 1 ft baby pool there too. James wasn't sure at first but warmed up quickly.

Sliding

Our indoor slide is one of James' favorite things to do now. He is starting to spend more and more time in his playroom so slowly we will move some of the toys in the family room to the playroom. He just learned how to climb and slide all by himself.

park

James loved the park! It was the first time we've been since he is actually walking. I tried holding his hand when he was walking, but he kept pushing me away. He is trying to tell me that he is a big boy now! It made me nervous when he was on the cement. He fell a few times, but shed no tears. He is a tough little guy. We have a low key weekend planned and we are looking forward to it! Gotta love 3 day weekends! AND... Todd only has 2 days of school left.

Pizza night!

My Aunt Shelly and cousin Sarah are in town this week so they came over for dinner tonight and brought pizza. James loves being around Sarah! So much so, that he wouldn't look at the camera because he was too busy watching her. We are planning on going to the park with her tomorrow and looking forward to a relaxing Memorial weekend.

Eric Hutchinson

We had a GREAT weekend! We flew to Detroit, MI Saturday morning and drove to Lexington to see Eric Hutchinson in concert. He is an amazing performer! James stayed with G-ma and Papaw while we were gone and had a great time playing with the "big kids". On the way to Lexington we did a little shopping at a local mall and also went to our favorite eatery in town, Smackwater Jacks! Although it was a really quick trip it was a lot of fun. I don't think I would have wanted to be away from James any longer. We missed him so much! Here are some pics and video from our weekend and the concert.

Last day of school

Today was James' last day of school. Since Sept he has been attending a preschool program at our church which is conveniently less than a mile from where I work. He went on Mondays/Wednesdays from 9-3:30. It has been a great experience and we feel so blessed that we were able to take him to our church environment. I knew James always loved being there, participating in the fun activities and playing with all the other children. Somedays, so much fun, that I would go to pick him up and he didn't want to come with me. These are pictures from his last day when I came to pick him up. He was on the outdoor playground and covered in debris! We will miss his wonderful teacher Ms Melanie! Once Todd is out of school(2 weeks from today) James will be spending his Mondays/Wednesdays with his Dada.

New Patio

We got a new patio today. I wish I had taken a before picture, but basically it was a cement slab. We just wanted something to dress it up a little so we had some tile/stone type pavers installed. James was totally intrigued by the workers and spent atleast 30 minutes just watching them. I wish they could stop by everyday! Ha!

Weekend

James is dressed and ready for a fun day of biking one of our favorite bike trails in Rocheport, Mo. It is a 2 hour drive from our house and James took his morning nap on the way. We enjoyed a nice lunch at Abigails and then biked about 10 miles on the trail. Here are some pictures from the trail. James fell asleep halfway through our ride.

After our ride we enjoyed a snack and refreshments at Les Bourgeois wine garden overlooking the MO river. It was the most beautiful day!

Sunday morning Todd made waffles for Mothers Day. You can tell by the picture he doesn't cook much, but he can handle a waffle mix. He had a cute little helper too! I was hoping James would say Mama for me, but he did give me his first real hug which was one of the best moments of my year! He walked over, put his arms around me, put his head on my shoulder and patted my back. My heart melted. James also gave me another sweet gift by napping from 9-12. So, Todd and I both went back to sleep. What a gift! I then enjoyed my favorite Williams Sonoma peppermint hot chocolate before James woke up.

Here are some pictures from my parents backyard. All in all a great Mothers Day weekend!!!!

night talker

Todd and I are both sound sleepers and sometimes when James wakes up at night we wake up wondering how long James has been trying to get our attention. Hopefully not too long. Last night Todd suggested shutting our door and James' door since he had to wake up early for a golf meet. He thought the alarm would possibly wake up James at 5am which would not be good. Lately, James has been sleeping from 7-7:30pm to 6-7am. We were concerned that if James needed us in the night we wouldn't be able to hear him with the doors shut so I left the monitor on in our room. Fast forward a few hours and we wake up at 1:30 to James jabbering away. He babbled about lots of important stuff for 10-15 minutes and THANKFULLY went back to sleep without parent intervention. Yeah! Typically, as soon as James wakes up in his crib he starts crying for us, but just in the past week he has woke up once in the morning and once from a nap being content just playing in his crib. I'm hoping for more of those happy wake up times! Todd and I are left wondering how often he wakes up on the middle of the night to play and we just never hear him from across the hall???

two parties in one day!

Happy Birthday Morgan!
Today we celebrated Morgan turning 1. James loved helping Morgan open presents and eating a cupcake! James is so lucky to have such a sweet girlfriend like Morgan.

Happy Birthday Papaw Greg!
We headed to my parents after Morgan's party to celebrate my dad's birthday. James loves his Papaw Greg and lights up whenever he sees him. James enjoyed his first corn on the cob (forgot to take a picture), but really didn't have an appetite since he really pigged out at Morgan's party.

He loves playing with the easel and markers. It keeps him really busy. I love how cute he looks in his "big boy" pjs.

Playdates=Long naps??

James had his friends Morgan and Kenyon over to play this afternoon. They had a lot of fun and James was really worn out from his company. He took a 2:15 nap this morning and another 2:15 nap this afternoon which is atleast an 1-2 hours more than he normally sleeps. Maybe we should have playdates everyday!

The Wilson Diner

Check out our new blog. Ok, really, my new blog. We all know Todd doesn't spend much time in the kitchen unless it involves eating. I will be posting lots of fun and tasty recipes at The Wilson Diner so please check it out!
