Busy Weekend

We had a busy and fun weekend. Saturday morning we had James' 1 year pictures. He had been congested during the week so I knew it was only a matter of time before he got a runny nose. It was a little runny on Friday, but of course, started really flowing on Saturday during the photo shoot. It is hard to try to blot a runny nose(without making it red) and get a smile all at the same time. James only had 1 meltdown, but I really think he was hungry because it was after 12 by that time. So I didn't get any pictures in the porcelain claw foot tub that I've always admired at the studio. Oh well. After James calmed down we did one last set of pictures with him and a birthday cake. The photographer said that most kids don't do well with the cake and end up crying. I thought James would do well because he loves ALL food. He devoured the cake in a matter of minutes and loved every minute of it. We were concerned that he might get a stomach ache, but he was fine. I think the pictures are going to be so cute. They should be online Thursday so I'll post the link and password.

Once we left the studio we headed to my parents for Papaw's birthday party. The weather went from rain, sleet and then snow in an hour. Here is a clip of the large snowflakes:

Sunday afternoon Todd's Grandparents and brother Justin stopped by for the night on their way home from TX. It was great to see them and we were so glad they stopped to see us. Just one year ago they came through KC to visit baby James in the hospital.

Then and Now

It is exactly 1 year ago today that James was supposed to enter the world. I had no idea at the time that the 8 following days would take forever. I couldn't wait for my baby boy/girl to get here! The last year has gone by faster than any other year of my life. I came across some pictures from a year ago when we were anxiously awaiting our new arrival. Wow, how things have changed!
This is the nursery a year ago.

This is the nursery now. James loves to empty all the drawers/cabinets of his changing table.

He has also destroyed his crib.

This is me a year ago and about 50 lbs heavier! Yikes, I can't believe I was that big!`Notice the nice clean family room floor behind me.

And here is me now sitting in our big pile of toys, books, etc. My sweatpants are frequently in my daily wardrobe. Don't stop by without calling or you might catch me in my pj's. And yes, I did cut my hair. I actually cut 9 inches. Since I've been getting over pink eye I haven't posted any pictures but I will soon.

Guys Weekend

Todd had his friends Shawn and Asa in town for the weekend. Aaron was supposed to come down as well, but plans changed when little Maggie arrived 2 months early. All I can say is that these guys can definitely stay up later than me! Whew! It makes me tired just thinking about it. They enjoyed some golf, the Steamboat Arabia Museum, Power and Light District, Melting Pot on the Plaza, the college basketball experience, going to a NCAA tournament game and some good KC Jack Stack BBQ!

James are I are still a little under the weather. Yesterday he ran a fever(103.6 which made me freak out a little. I've read that you need to be concerned over 104) and just wasn't himself for a few hours. Today he still has a low fever, but seems much happier and has napped better. I have my voice back but this morning woke up with some bright pink eyes. I'm not sure if it is officially pink eye, but I've had a cold and I think it is just trying to work its way out of my body. I'm hoping that we will all be healthy soon!

Spring

These are pictures from yesterday at my parents. We had to get some pictures with James and their blooming daffodils. He surprisingly sat very still most of the time. I think he was a little unsure of the dirt.

Maggie Evans

I'm so jealous! Todd went to go visit Maggie and the Evans' last night in Des Moines. She is so tiny, but doing very well. Dixie was released from the hospital last night. They are unsure at this time when Maggie will be able to come home. Please continue to pray for baby Maggie.

Happy St Patrick's Day!!!

James had a good St Patty's Day! We had our friends Justin, Tram, Annalise, and Scarlett Lawlor over for dinner this evening. James loved playing with Annalise(4 1/2) and Scarlett(2). It was such a beautiful day here in KC and we were able to enjoy dinner out on the deck!

A nice family photo. All in green!

James, Scarlett and Annalise

Who's your daddy?

May love and laughter light your days,
and warm your heart and home.
May good and faithful friends be yours,
wherever you may roam.
May peace and plenty bless your world
with joy that long endures.
May all life's passing seasons
bring the best to you and yours!

Feeling Better

Well, I didn't get James' pink eye, but I think he gave me something. I woke up Sunday feeling terrible and spent most of the day in bed. Thank goodness James has such a great daddy who spent the day with him. I'm feeling better today, but still not quite 100% so I stayed home from work to get a little extra rest. James seems to be doing fine and his eyes are slowly getting better.

Our friends Dixie and Aaron Evans welcomed their baby girl into the world last night. Dixie was not due until Mid-May and had to have an emergency c-section. We don't know too many details as of yet but apparently there was a blood clot causing the placenta to break away from uterus. Baby Evans weighed 3 lbs 10 oz and both mom and baby are in stable condition. They are still undecided on a name as of now. Please keep the Evans family in your thoughts and prayers.

Happy Birthday Gillian

We celebrated Gillians 10th birthday today with Papa Johns Pizza and Angel's chocolate cake! Gillian is going to Chicago this weekend with Mom and Dad to pick out a new doll at the American Girl store. Jack is going to stay with us for the weekend. We think James enjoyed the pizza a little too much and had a tummy ache for a couple hours after the party. He loves to eat and we don't think he knows when to stop. Thankfully, he woke up happy the next morning.

Feels like spring

James and I took a walk this afternoon and got to enjoy this beautiful weather. It got up in the upper 70's this afternoon and it was just gorgeous! I personally think that James looks so adorable in his hat. Don't you think? He didn't mind wearing it which is good because he will have one on a lot the next few months. We had G-Ma, Papaw, and Aunt Lynda come by for dinner tonight and bring Spin Pizza! While we did have a great day I did have Cora's Family on my mind a lot today. They lost their little girl less than a month ago to cancer and today would have been her 1 year birthday. I don't personally know this family, but have been following their blog since the end of January when she was diagnosed. Please say a prayer tonight for the McClenahan family that is missing their little girl so much!

11 Months

Another month has gone by and our baby getting so big! 11 Months today! James is doing new things all the time. His latest thing is to point at Todd and say "Dada". He still doesn't say Mama, rather he calls me "Nana". He only says "Nana" when he needs help, food or is unhappy. His favorite things to do are to eat and take a bath!

Good Food, Good Company

Today was a good food day at the Wilson house. For breakfast we had our favorite lemon ricotta pancakes with turkey sausage and cantaloupe. Yum! Tonight we had Uncle Steve and Aunt Debbie over for dinner. It was great to have them over and I think they enjoyed having James all to themselves. I served cheeseburger soup which is always a big hit. I make it with ground turkey, skim milk, lowfat velvetta and omit the sour cream. I made a double batch so we can enjoy it all week!
