Kayaking and Key West

One of our days in the Keys we drove to Key West to check out the town and also do some kayaking. Since Todd participated in the dolphin dip I participated in the kayaking. Another few months and kayaking would have probably been to uncomfortable so I was eager for the opportunity! We were out in the water for about 1 1/2 hours. We got to see many species of starfish, jellyfish, and conch. Conch is really popular in the keys and they live in huge seashells. Fried conch and conch chowder were the most common things found on menus. Todd tried the conch chowder for dinner one evening and liked it, but said it was more like a spicy gumbo than a chowder. Interestingly, we found out on our kayak tour is that US conch are considered a protected species so all the conch people eat in the Keys come from another country. Kind of strange if you ask me! Here are some pictures from our kayak adventure and Key West.
