James won the Optimist Club award for September for the kindergarten grade.  We are very proud of James and how he is off to a great school year!

Deanna Rose Farmstead

My parents treated the kids and I to a fun afternoon at Deanna Rose last weekend.  We missed Todd because he was entertaining some out of town friends for the day.  The boys loved walking around and seeing all of the animals, but I think the highlight was taking the wagon ride!  I can't get enough of these beautiful fall days we've been having!

Mt Vernon

We had a wonderful weekend in Mt Vernon with the Schneiders.  We left Friday afternoon and spent the night in Des Moines.  We were up early and on the road by 7 on Saturday morning, arriving in Mt Vernon by 9:45.  We watched the women's tennis team for a while and also checked out the new commons area.  SO much nicer when we were there!  We were hoping to pick up some Cornell apparel but the bookstore was closed.  We met up with the Schneiders and ate at Lincoln cafe for lunch.  Delicious!  From there we went to Wilson's to pick apples.  Henry and Blake slept the whole time in the car so it was just James and I hunting for apples.  Then we went to a pumpkin patch/farm closer to Mt Vernon and the kids loved running on a hay bale maze.  We did Pizza Palace for dinner and taco pizza, of course!  The kids swam in the evening before bed.  They were all really tired.  Sunday after breakfast we went to the Pal for a hike.  We also walked around campus and had lunch at Gwen's before heading back home.  It was way to quick but a lot of fun!
