Planting Flowers

Royals Game

We joined the Hilbrich's at the ballgame on Sunday! James hadn't been to a game since he was 4 months old so it was all new to him. He got so excited when he first saw the field and shouted "baseball". James sat still for about an inning and then he was ready to go. Between lots of snacks and several stroller walks we made it to the 8th inning! I think his favorite part of the game was clapping for the players!

Report Card

James' school does an "Observation of Developmental Skills" each Spring to let us parents know how our kids are doing. I enjoyed getting to sit down with his teachers and talk about how James is doing in class and how he has changed throughout the school year. First of all, James is talking a lot more than he was in September and has a lot to say and communicate. Other important highlights of our meeting:
-James is always happy during creative movement.
-James enjoys music class and especially likes the instrumental activities.
-He always has a smile on his face.
-Even though he is one of the younger in his class he is one of the best at walking up and down stairs and using the rails
-He is improving on playing with the other children. His teacher reports he likes to have all the toys and has a hard time sharing.
-He has to be told NO many times before he stops doing something that he isn't supposed to be doing. (this made Mama/Dada chuckle because James is very stubborn and determined when he wants something)
-James loves to play in the kitchen and with the play food.
-James loves to read books and his favorite is an Elmo pat-a-cake book.
-Takes good afternoon naps on his cot. Today he took a 3 hour nap and was still sleeping when I went to pick him up. I only wished he slept that well at home!!!

Our "BIG" 2 year old!

We went for James' two year well check this morning. He started crying as soon as he saw the nurse. It was not a happy visit. He is starting to remember "this is the place that gives me shots"! I didn't think he had to get any shots today, but one of the shots he was supposed to get at 18 months was missed because of a national shortage. So, one last shot before his 5 year shots! James was 33 lbs(95%) and 37 1/2 inches tall(over 97%). He is one sturdy, tall boy! The dr and nurse just kept going on and on about how big he was. He doesn't seem that big to me, but I guess he is the size of an average 3 year old. The only thing that has bothering us about James is that he has had several eye irritations the last year. The Dr seems to think that it is a mild allergy. We are not going to treat it at this point, but keep an eye on it to see if it gets worse. Typically his eyes will mildly water for a few days at a time and several times he has gotten a red swollen eye lid. It doesn't seem to bother James and goes away quickly. We feel blessed to have a healthy 2 year old boy!

Easter

James and his Easter basket. He got some swim diapers, swim shoes, a beach towel and some books.

Just look at the handsome guy!

On the go!

This was our best attempt at a family picture. It was windy, sunny and James didn't want to hold still!

After church was went to a local restaurant for brunch. It was delicious and we all ate way too much! James loved the Easter bunny and wanted to keep giving him hugs and kisses.

Happy 2nd Birthday James!

James turned 2 today! He had a great day and he was very happy. Much happier than his 1st birthday. We celebrated his special day on Saturday with family and our close friends the Hilbrich's. It was wonderful that so many people could celebrate with us!

Easter Bunny

Todd's family arrived Thursday night. Friday we went down to Crown Center to visit the Easter bunny. I was really hoping that James wouldn't be scared since we waited nearly an hour. He LOVED the Easter bunny so we got a lot of cute pictures.

After the Easter bunny we toured the fairy tale village and ate at Fritz's. Instead of a waitress they deliver your food on a train. James loved looking at all the trains so we will definitely go back.
