Apple Pie Day 2009

Today was annual apple pie day at the Henson house! What a difference a year makes! James is such a big and busy boy this year. He kept us all on our toes! He loves apples and devoured 1 in our photo shoot and another right after. I told him 2 apples were enough for an 18 month old. We all took turns helping out with James while the pies got made. We all had our usual jobs; Mom-crust, Todd, Seth or Dad- Apple peeling, Jennifer-Apple pie assembly. Here is the recipe.

Zoo

James and I met Jami and Morgan at the Zoo last week. It was just a beautiful day and we had the place to ourselves. We walked all through Africa and the kids were so good just looking around while being pushed in their strollers.

New Chair

James has a new chair that he LOVES, but he enjoys playing on it much more than sitting on it.

left bottom molar coming in

I just noticed this morning that James' left molar(11th tooth) is on its way here. The only indication that he gave me was an abundance of dirty diapers followed by a nasty rash. I'm hoping that it clears up soon. Poor little guy has a sore bum.

Update 9/29 Both molar are on their way in! His new teeth do not seem to be bothering him.

First day of school

Today was James' first day of preschool for the year.

Every school day needs to start with a good breakfast, right?

Ready to go!

Please, just one more snack?

James at the end of his day when I picked him up.

James had a GREAT first day at school. He was the only little one not crying when I left this morning. I attribute this to the fact that he goes to Sunday school in the same room each week. I think it made the transition a lot easier on both of us. James has a busy schedule each Monday/Wednesday from 9-3:30. In the mornings he has Praise/Worship, Movement, Music, Snack and Activity time. He gets lunch around 11:30 and then naps from 12:30 to wake up time. Today James slept from 12:40-2:15. Once naps are over he is able to play outside(not today due to rain) or take an indoor buggy ride. James was really tired tonight and was in bed before 7pm. His big day wore him out.

Cousins

James has two new cousins that were born recently. He is surrounded by girls everywhere we go, but he doesn't seem to mind.

Sophia Marie was born July 12th and Anika Marie was born last December.

Addison Rose was born on Sept 1st.

diving board

James is really getting the hang of swimming with his swim ring. It is so fun to watch. He is able to keep himself upright with no assistance and kicks/splashes the direction he wants to go. He also got brave today and jumped off the diving board.

"just teasing you Dada"

Getting closer to jumping.

Arizona

We got home Sunday from a weekend trip to Arizona to visit lots of family. It was James' first airplane ride and did really well on the way there, not so good on the way back. He is very active and has a hard time sitting still. He wants up and down, up and down constantly. I thought the way home would go well since it was during his nap time, but he ended up screaming for 45 minutes before finally going to sleep. We were all exhausted and ready to be home after that flight! Thankfully, my mom and Gillian were with us. I couldn't have done the trip without them! It was all worth it for my Grandma Helen to get to see James.

James during his first flight, the happy flight!

Gillian and Sarah walking James to the park.

James trying to keep up with the girls.

James had to have his shoes off at the park. I don't even know why I bother with shoes because he doesn't like wearing them.

James got to use crayons for the first time with Sarah. She was an excellent teacher.

James and Grandma giving each other kisses.

Uncle Ken and James watching football together.

James and Kelly. Kelly is the Broky's foreign exchange student from Norway. She will be coming to Kansas City for a visit next month.

Park

Last week we met a couple of James' girlfriends Molly and Morgan for play time at the park.

James looks like a giant next to these sweet girls!

James loves his snacks or as he calls them his "nacks".

Good times!
